Hi, I'm not sure if this is possible but when opening a text file through excel is it possible to have vba that automatically completes the text import wizard at fixed widths, because it would save me a lot of time not going through this!
Any Help is Appreciated
(using excel 2007)

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Welcome to the Forum,

Have you tried recording a macro to give you the steps then you just need to do something with the Text File name for opening.

Hi thanks for the reply, when I import the text it automatically comes up with the text wizard and if I just click finish it seems to automatically split up some of the data into different columns dividing up words, so when I record a macro I can't combine the columns again. If you understand what I mean?

Can you copy some of your text file in here, before going into Excel then copy same text after its been through the wizard and state what sort of thing you need to look at about combining the text.

Hi sorry for the late reply, I have managed to work around the problem by opening the file directly and specifying to open it with excel rather than opening the file through excel.

Thanks
