well i am trying to build a macro to do many things here. first I want it to search column b in column b row cells have a "*" in them as a identifer. If it finds a "*" then I want it to bring up a import box for me to enter 3 variables. Description (which will go into column g) Cost (column k)retail (column m). and the macro will keep repeating till it has done all the records with that "*". Any help would be awsome

Not everything I do at work revolves around Excel. Only the fun parts.
Try this one:

Sub Macro1()

Sheets("Sheet1").Select
Range("B9").Select
Again:
If ActiveCell.Value = "" Then Exit Sub
If ActiveCell.Value = "*" Then

Number = ActiveCell.Row
Range("B" & Number).Clear
Description = Application.InputBox("Please enter the Descripton:", "Description")
Cost = Application.InputBox("Please enter the Cost:", "Cost")
Retail = Application.InputBox("Please enter the Retail:", "Retail")
Range("B" & Number).Clear
Range("G" & Number).Value = Description
Range("K" & Number).Value = Cost
Range("M" & Number).Value = Retail

ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select
GoTo Again
Else
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select
GoTo Again
End If
End Sub
