I am not sure if this is possible but I figured it would be worth a shot. I am trying to create a dropdown menu from a list, simple enough. However, I am limited on space to the sake of simplicity. What I would like to do is if a dropdown menu that, when selecting, will show a job number AND the name of the job. After selected, I would like only the job number to show in the cell.

For example, when you select the drop down you see "202020 - Taco Bell" and after you select the job the cell only shows "202020"

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
Perhaps set the column width so that only the job number is visible?

The only other thing that comes to mind is to use a worksheet change event (if vba is permissible) to remove the name after it has been selected.

An example of jasonb75's suggestion is here if you are interested in that sort of approach.

It includes code to expand the column when selected so that you can read the longer description in the DV list and shrinks the column again once you move away from the DV cell.
(This part may no longer be needed in recent Excel versions.

BTW, I suggest that you update your Account details (click your user name at the top right of the forum) so helpers always know what Excel version(s) & platform(s) you are using as the best solution often varies by version. (Don’t forget to scroll down & ‘Save’)
