Conditional Average and Standard Deviation

Hello all

This is my first post so I'd just like to say thank you for all the help. I am an excel newbie and had a question on conditional average and std deviation.

I need a formula to calculate average and std deviation in range r2:r106 but the average and std deviation in row2 has to exclude r2, the average and std deviation in row3 has to exclude r3 and so on.

Here is a small sample: R2:R5.

What is the desired average for this small sample?

I am doing a sort of dissimilarity score, so this is what I need.

R2:R5 Average
4 ---- (3+5+4+8)/4
3 ---- (4+5+4+8)/4
5 ---- (4+3+4+8)/4
4 ---- (4+3+5+8)/4
8 ---- (4+3+5+4)/4

And the same for standard deviation formula.

It seems I got it wrong.

Perhaps this is more like it.
Place the formula in row 2 and copy it down.

 =AVERAGE(IF(ROW($R$2:$R$106)<>ROW(),$R$2:$R$106))

Enter with CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER!

Hello. Thanks again for your help. I now have another condition to add to calculate the average. Below is an example of what it should look like.

Type Score Average for Type A
A 1 =(4+5+7+9)/4
B 2 Blank
C 3 Blank
A 4 =(1+5+7+9)/4
A 5 =(1+4+7+9)/4
D 6 Blank
A 7 =(1+4+5+9)/4
E 8 Blank
A 9 =(1+4+5+7)/4
