I'm looking for a conditional Average in F17.

Columns A:D are support columns and will be hidden.

G17 sums upp all items for June. I'm looking for the same function in F17 but and Average not a Sum. I have already added a formula in F17, but am a little uncertain it is a good formula.

What do you think? Any inputs?

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
I'm not quite sure why you need to get an average sales tax percentage but I think that if you do it that way you won't take account of the number of items calculated at each percentage. Perhaps

=SUMPRODUCT(--(D4:D15=B9),F4:F15,G4:G15)/G17

I know, it looks weird. I'm using it to pull up different accumulated monthly sales to my Profit and Loss sheet using lookups. The above Sheet1 is just a part of my Databas.

I do have different sales taxes for different states and during one month, sales might have happened in different states and the Profit & Loss sheet pulls up the total amount of sales, as in G17 above, for that month selected from the Combo Box in the Profit & Loss sheet. All sales is multiplied with the sales tax and if I have different sales taxes I'm looking at an Average will smooth it out and give me an difference of only a few cents.

Do you still think =SUMPRODUCT(--(D4:D15=B9),F4:F15,G4:G15)/G17 is the better choice?

Do you have a better idea than mine? It is a little rough, I know.

I think that my suggestion would be an improvement, because it takes account of the number of sales at each percentage, but to get a more accurate figure you'd need to factor in the actual sale values.

Alright, I can add the sales price in the Databas too, not only in the Profit and loss sheet. I call upp all other sales info from the Databas and I can call upp the sales price too.

What do you think now?
