A1:A25 contain the numbers 1 to 25.
I have used the count function to total the amount of numbers (25) in A27.
How do I insert a message such as ERROR! in B27 if the total is less than 25.
I do not require any cells to be protected.

Thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
Conditional formatting is optional, but not needed. Enter this formula in B27:

=IF(A27<25,"ERROR","")

You can then conditionally format if you wish.

Thanks for waking me up I was trying to do the CF first.
I was actually using in the formula is =IF(A27<25,"ERROR")and drawing blanks.

Thanks

Sparky,

'cos it's conditional formatting, you don't need if statements in the formula - setting a check for a2 < 25 would suffice.

To refine Paddy's formula, you can use in cell B27:

=A27=25

This will return TRUE if A27 equals 25 or FALSE if any other number. Use this variation of Paddy's if you don't mind a TRUE or FALSE return, use mine if you prefer ERROR or a blank cell.
