Hi :)
I am trying to compare the text values in 3 columns (G, I and J) and only highlight the value that is different. I would like to use conditional formatting and a "simple" formula if possible

Thank you in advance

Excel Facts

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
Select columns you want and Go to Conditional Formatting ; Manage Rules ; Use a formula to determine ... and Select first Cell and first column ( I think it is G3) and add equal sign = and Then Select first Cell and Second column ( I think it is I3) ; finally go to format and choose what you want.
IMPORTANT: check when you select cells don't import cell address with $ sign and if have, remove it.

If you want formula for Column J :
At J3 input and drag it down:
Excel Formula:
=IF(G3=I3,"Same","Different")

Thank you for answering me and apologies for the delay in responding to you - I can only test on Thursdays :)

From what I can tell, this is only telling me if 1 cell matches another, not highlighting which of the 3 cells are different?

Use this formula Without$ at Conditional formating:
Excel Formula:
=OR(G3<>I3, I3<>J3, G3<>I3)
