Conditional Formatting: Change Cell Interior Color (Fill) Only

Hi,

I'm trying to use alternate cell shading in excel using MOD(ROW(),2)=1 with conditional formatting in a table. (I'm deliberately avoiding using banded rows here.)

I'm setting the fill color to 'No Color' and ensuring that the tabs Number, Font and Border within the conditional formatting format options are all set to 'Clear'. My understanding of this is that in setting these format options to 'Clear', the existing formatting will not be overwritten.

However, every other row loses its number formatting due to the conditional formatting. How do I change the fill of the cell only?

Let me know if you need any other info or screenshots!

Thanks!
