Does anyone know of a function in which I could test the value inserted into a cell against a list and, if this value matched a value in the list, highlight the cell?

=FormatIf(Highlight, Value, "MyList", True)
I don't know, something like this?

I already know that I can apply conditional formatting to highlight, for instance, when there is a duplicate value in a group of cells.

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
I take it you worked out that the middle comma should have been a colon but also in Conditional Formatting you don't even need the ISNUMBER. This should work just as well:

=MATCH(A1,B1:B100,0)
