Hello All!

There's a possibility this is not as complex as I am making it out to be so please bare with me:

I have a column (G) that will have ID numbers (9 digits) being manually entered and I am trying to format the column so every time there is a keying error (when the character count of column G is less than 9 or greater than 9) the cell will auto-fill to "red."

I thought I was closest with the following formula:
=IF(AND(LEN(G$1)>=1, (LEN(G$1)<>9)), (LEN(G$1)>9), (LEN(G$1)<9))

I also used:

=(ISBLANK(G$1))

Thanks in advanced for your help!

Hi,

a conditional formatting rule could be:

Code:
=AND(LEN(G$1)<>9,LEN(G$1))[/COLOR]

or

Code:
[COLOR=#000000]=(LEN(G$1)<>9)*LEN(G$1)[/COLOR]

Hope it helps
