Conditional Formatting Excel Tables

Good morning, everyone. A column in my table contains expiration dates that will change color when it falls under one year, 6 months, or expired. The problem I have is when the table expands, the formatting effects the blank totals row cell and changes only it to red. From my knowledge, you can't put excel table nomenclature in the conditional formatting rules manager. It only accepts cell reference ranges. When I change the range in the rules manager to the range inside of the table and I expand the table, the range in the rules manager updates to include the totals row again. I've unchecked and checked the totals row and the problem remains. Any suggestions?

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
To keep those blank rows from turning to red, try changing this Conditional Formatting formula:
Excel Formula:
=G7<TODAY()
to this:
Excel Formula:
=AND(G7>0,G7<TODAY())
