I have a question on conditional formatting that I was hoping I could get some help with.

I have three columns.

Column A is the amount due

Column B is the due date

Column C is the date that the amount was paid

I would like to set conditional formatting to do the following:

  • If all of the cells #1, #2 and #3 all have text/numbers in them I would like to:
    • Have the text switch from black to dark gray color

Thanks for your help.

Excel Facts

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
Thanks for the help.

I worded the question wrong.

When cells A1, B1 and C1 all have numbers in them. How do I conditional format to change the text color?

ISNUMBER(A1) and so on

Sheet7
Cells with Conditional Formatting
CellConditionCell FormatStop If True
A1:D2Expression=ISNUMBER(A1)textNO

Thanks for your help.

I put the above conditional formatting
  • =ISNUMBER(M4)

to apply to these cells
  • =$K$4:$M$4

but, the only cell that formats is K4

Can you tell what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks again,

try ISNUMBER(K4) - the first cell of the range not the last

I still recommend to read all from link in post#2

I will read it, thanks for the information.

K4 doesn't work because I need it to stay black and then when M4 is filled in I need K4, L4 and M4 to turn gray at that point.

Does that makes sense?

use XL2BB to post your representative example and expected result also detailed description what you want to achieve

You didn't say that in your posts

I had some issues adding XL2BB and I have meet family soon so I will add it in later this afternoon.

Here is what I'm trying to do. It seems simple enough, but I'm missing it. This is just a budget spreadsheet.
Each item is three cells, amount do, due date and paid date. I just want the three cell block to turn gray after
the paid date cell is populated.
