Conditional formatting formula question

I have this formula that works the way it is, but would like to add something to it. As is the formula looks up the name I type into the cell and if column 5 of employeelist is blank turns the cell red. but if I type the name and by mistake hit the space key it dosn't turn the cell red.
What I need to do is if I type the name and it has a space and $ after it to also make the cell red. Is there something I can add to this formula?


=IF(ISBLANK(VLOOKUP(F30,employeelist,5,FALSE)),TRUE,FALSE)

Maybe try:

=ISBLANK(VLOOKUP(TRIM(SUBSTITUTE(F30,"$","")),employeelist,5,FALSE))
