Conditional formatting help with merged rows

Hi all,

I'm trying to fill rows with colours dependent on pass or fail. The issue is some of the cells are merged including the one that has the pass or fail selection, and hence only fills the top row of that merged cell. Please see image 1 attached for a better idea, this is how it currently works. Is there a formula that I can insert as a CF rule to allow it to fill all such rows that fit inline with the merged cells (image 2)?

Anyone with good VBA skills can help?

Basically the syntax will be something like:

1. Check what status is selected at Cell F2.
2. Apply format to Row 2.
3. Carry on applying same format to subsequent rows until the next Cells in Column A and D aren't empty, so in this example it would be Cell A5 and D5.
4. Once the next Cells in Column A and D is found to be not empty, stop the loop.

Comparing both Columns A and D at step 3 will ensure the format is not indefinitely applied below the last filled in row of the sheet.

Any ideas?

Thanks
