Hey there,
I am new to the Mr. Excel boards, and I was wondering if anyone in the community would be able to help me with a conditional formatting question.

My superior at work has asked me to find a way to turn an entire row of cells one color if a singular cell contains the text 'YES'. Is this possible?

Thank you in advance!

Yes, this is possible!

How about providing some specific details.

What version of Excel are you using?

The ENTIRE row? That could be more than 16,000 cells per row depending on which version of Excel you're using. Or, do you mean: the cells on the row that actually contain data? Like maybe A1:J1?

Which cell might contain "Yes" ?

I am using Excel 2010.
I suppose the entire row is not necessary. Let's say A7:R7, A8:R8, so on and so forth.

The excel sheet has to do with selling off inventory on ebay. The 'O' column, titled 'Sold?', will be filled with Yes/No's.

Thank you so much for the hasty response!

Try this...

Let's assume the full range to format is A7:R15.

Select the *entire* range A7:R15 starting from cell A7.
Cell A7 will be the active cell. The active cell is the
one cell in the selected range that is not shaded. The
formula will be relative to the active cell.

Goto the Home tab>Styles>Conditional Formatting>Manage rules>New rule>Use a formula to determine which cells to format

Enter this formula in the box below:

=$O7="Yes"

Click the Format button
Select the desired style(s)
OK out
