When a cell is empty, the "isblank(A1)" formula works fine.
But
If I enter a number of spaces, the formaula 1 (isblank) fails.

Here are my curent condtions

1) Formula - =IsBlank(J3) then background Yellow

2) Cell Value is - not equal to - =("OK") then Red

3) Cell Value is - equal to - ="OK" then Green

Excel Facts

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
It is not my spreadsheet, users enter them and I want to make sure that the condition is covered

What data is going ito J3? Perhaps you could consider using data validation to restrict what is entered into the cell...?

=IF(LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1," ",""))=LEN(A1),"yes","no")

you could use this to test if a cell only contains spaces.

Hi:

Since you have cells with a variety of a quantity of "spaces", a thought would be to modify those cells and replace them with only one blank space (assuming the cells having multuiple spaces have no purpose)..

Then using partial of the condition formating for the cells containing blank cells to =" " (one space between the parens) to your desired formating.

hope this helps
