Ok so I know how to do regular common conditional formatting, I would like to know if there is a formula that I can type in that will get everything starting with the letter A-L in the alphabet to highlight and M-Z to be another color. I am working in a school bus yard and with COVID only certain kids are going in on certain days and I would like to be able to separate them by their last name

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Suppose you try 2 conditions in the range of names.
The presumes the first letter of the name is upper-case and I'm supposing you would have the last name of the student in A1 (filled down).

Code:
=AND(CODE(LEFT(A1,1))>=65,CODE(LEFT(A1,1))<=76)
Code:
=AND(CODE(LEFT(A1,1))>=77,CODE(LEFT(A1,1))<=90)
