Hi all,

I am trying to set up a conditional formatting rule where cells in one column will colour fill based on the value of the top cell in that column.

My example is:
=$E5="WFH"

Applies to:
Cells - E7:E12, E14:E25, E27:E38, E40:E51, E53:E58

I have the following in the 'Applies to' box - =$E$7:$E$12,$E$14:$E$25,$E$27:$E$38,$E$40:$E$51,$E$53:$E$58

However when I click apply, it only formats E7 to E12

Any idea why?

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Becauase only E5 and E10 have "WFH" in them?

If you want all of them to reformat if E5 is "WFH", then you should do =$E$5="WFH"
