Hi All, I need to return TBC in cell D7 if B7 contains text, if not leave it blank.
I'm using Excel 2007.

Any ideas? I've tried a few things that haven't worked.

Thanks
Martin

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Cheers guys, I'd already tried that formula in conditional, doesn't work there as you said.

Thing is it's used by a group of people so once they enter details in & over write the formula I don't want to keep going in to put it back in.
Hence I was trying for a conditional formula.

Sorry needs to be conditional.

May just have to have it set so if the cell is blank or states TBC then highlight it yellow.
Don't really want to do that as don't really want loads of yellow cells in rows not being used.

You could try the custom conditional formatting formula:

=ISTEXT(B7)

and the number format:

General;General;General;"TBC"

D7 would need to contain some text, even if it's only a space.

Yeah just means more manual input the month after to replace any cells typed over.

Never mind, cheers for the help.
