I have a formula in a column =IF(OR($I81<>"",$O81<>""),"", SUM(E81:F81))

When the IF statement returns "" the cell in blank. I want to highlight the cells that are greater than zero in conditional formatting but when I set that parameter the blank cells with the formula are highlighted. How can I get conditional formatting to ignore the formula's?

Thank you
James

Excel Facts

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
Edit - IGNORE

"" can be seen as a zero
But you say >0
so should ignore

what formula are you using in conditional formatting

A SMALL sample spreadsheet, around 10-20 rows, would help a lot here, with all sensitive data removed, and expected results mocked up and manually entered, with a few notes of explanation.

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data and will allow us to copy/paste your sample data into our Excel spreadsheets, saving a lot of time.

You can also test to see if it works ok, in the "Test Here" forum.

OR if you cannot get XL2BB to work, or have restrictions on your PC , then put the sample spreadsheet onto a share
I only tend to goto OneDrive, Dropbox or google docs , as I'm never certain of other random share sites and possible virus.
Please make sure you have a representative data sample and also that the data has been desensitised, remember this site is open to anyone with internet access to see - so any sensitive / personal data should be removed

ok, not seen this before - but a bit of research
multiple the conditional formatting rule by 1

so i have the formula in column A
and used the rule
=A1*1>0

Book1
ABCD
1xx
2
30xx
4
5100xx
6
7
Sheet1
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
A2:A6A2=IF(OR($B1<>"",$C1<>""),"", SUM(E81:F81))
Cells with Conditional Formatting
CellConditionCell FormatStop If True
A1:A6Expression=A1*1>0textNO

without the *1
it does highlight cell with the formula and ""

as shown here - which i suspect is what you have
never seen issue before

Book1
ABC
1xx
2
30xx
4
5100xx
6
Sheet1
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
A2:A6A2=IF(OR($B1<>"",$C1<>""),"", SUM(E81:F81))
Cells with Conditional Formatting
CellConditionCell FormatStop If True
A1:A6Expression=A1>0textNO
