How can I make a cell display text depending upon conditions in other cells

for example I want cell A1 to display the word ALPHA if cell C5 is positive
and the word BETA is cell C5 is negative.

How can i do this please

You could use an IF formula like

=IF(C5>=0,"ALPHA","BETA")
