was hoping to set up a spread sheet where i can input either a yes or no into a cell and depending on whih option, it could change the formatting (i.e. if i picked yes, the Y would show as bold, red text, light yellow background on that cell. Where as if i chose N, then the text would be italics, blue with light green background on that cell)

i hope that makes sense

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
It's indeed called Conditionnal formatting and can be found under the Format menu.

Cell Value ; Equal too; ="Y"
Click Format
Bold, Color = Red, Pattern = Yellow

click Ok, Add >>
Repeat for "N" :)
