Entire sheet contains the similar kind of data with extension Y, Z and G. Thru conditional formatting I want cells containing Y, Z and G should have different colours.

In Conditional Formatting, use the formula is option, with the formula

=right(a1,1)="Y", and an appropriate format

for cell A1. then Copy, Paste Special, Formats through the rest of your range
