I have two columns. I want to have some sort of conditional format in the second column that highlights anything that is also in the first column. What it the easiest way to accomplish this. WHen I try conditional formatting I select the column that I want to highlight then i choose the range of the column I am looking up against and the system tells me to change to reference a single cell. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
Let's say that you want to see if the value in B1 appears anywhere in the range A1:A100.
If cell B1, enter this Conditional Formatting formula:
Code:
=COUNTIF(A$1:A$100,B1)>0
then select your highlighting option.

If you have more cells to apply it to in column B, you can either use the Format Painter to copy the formatting from cell B1 to the other cells, or highlight all the cells in column B you want to apply it to, and write the formula as if you were just doing it to the first cell in your range (the rest will adjust automatically).
