I want to facilitate data input, on a range of cells I have to put in a beggining time and an end time (i.e. 5 a, 10 a, 11 p etc) I tried several different forms of format but I can not get away from having to input the whole time.... I want to be able to just input 5, 10, 17, 23 etc... any toughts?

Excel Facts

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
Chavira,

Are these times always start on the hour? If they do, just enter 1,2,3.....22,23,24. Sort of half baked military time. Other than that, how would Excel know what time you meant?

I alrady tried that, and the cell always gives me a 1/xx/1900 1200am for whatever time I put (half baked). the formating on the cell is for time 13:00, I've tried custom but to no avail. Yes they will always be whole hours.

As you have formatted the cell as a time and date, entering a 1 will give you the first date in the date system, 1 Jan 1900, midnight. 2 will give you 2 Jan 1900 etc. Excel stores dates and times as a fraction of a day.

If they are always going to be whole hours, why not just format as a number?
