conditonal formatting IF struggle

Hi, I'm having trouble trying to correctly say the following conditional formatting formula:-

If any of the cells a1:a12 contain a value less than zero, then turn all the cells in the area C1:D6 ( the ones I selected for formatting) a pretty red colour.

Hope i've managed to explain this.
