I've got a spreadsheet that I am trying to make. I downloaded some information from our database, but when excel looks at the information in the cell, it sees it as a date.

It views in the cell looking at it as 2:18, which it should mean 2 minutes and 18 seconds. But within the cell itself, excel is reading it as 12:02:18 AM. Definitely not what I need.

What I need is 2 minutes 18 seconds, because I need to average the time.

Any suggestions?

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
First, that is not a date, but Excel treats time as time, It will always show the equivalent time in the formula bar, but you can treat it as 2 minutes 18 seconds.

That makes sense.. Is it possible to convert that into seconds?

Such as 2 minutes 18 seconds converts into 138 seconds..
