Hi

I download a CSV file and it shows dates in the American format mmddyyyy. I would like to convert this to the British format ddmmyyyy. What´s the easiest way to do it?
I have tried playing around with formatting the cells and I´ve done a seach on this forum, but was not able to get a clear and easy answer.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Data-->Text to Columns-->Next-->Next-->DMY in the Date Box-->Finish. Note: This only works if the data is formatted as Dates and not Text.

Needs to be in the format it appears in the cell for the Text to Columns i.e. MDY then format the cells to the UK format (it should convert text as well as numbers)

Hi Alan

Thanks for the quick reply. That worked, but strangely enough I had to select MDY in the date box to change it to DMY in the spreadsheet.

Have a great weekend!

Not actually that strange, you need to tell it what format you are converting "from" which was the American format MDY ;)
