hi, i am looking for a formula that will convert the formula in another cell to an actual value.

is there anything which does this

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).

If I understand correctly, I think that you would have to:
1. Manually Copy then Paste Special...|Values, or
2. Use VBA to replace the formula with its result.

Hi
As far as I know -
(1) A formula in a cell is executed right away to give a value or an error.
(2) A formula in a cell never can act on another cell .
What have you in mind?

thanks for the replies. i thought it may be a long short on my side.

i was trying to find a lazy way of getting around some circular references in a gorilla of a spreadsheet.

i guess i should fix these correctly as they are indicative of an underlying problem.
