Convert long date into date format

Can anyone advise how to convert text format of

<colgroup><col width="140" style="width: 105pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 5973;"> <tbody> </tbody>

to date format 18/08/14 so that it is sortable

Format as date.
Copy down.

You can either sort on this column or do a copy and Paste Special Values over the originals.
