Convert PDF to Excel

I need to convert a PDF file to an Excel file. I have tried saving the PDF file then open up a blank word and then tried to open the PFD file in the blank Word doc and I am getting an error message. It worked fine for me once. When I was able to get the PDF file opened in the Word doc I was then able to copy and paste the data to an excel file. Now I'm getting this message:
