Is there a way to convert text that's been imported into excel into military time?

I need 6:34:00 PM to show as 18:34:00. Is there anything that will convert it?

Thank you for your help.

Excel Facts

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.
Go to Format|Cells and select Number tab, then go to the Time category.

From there you can choose the format you want.

Thanks for the reply, but that isn't working. That's the first thing I tried. Would it have anything to do with the information being imported from a different program?

I tried entering that information a few different ways and each time excel reognized it as a date. What version of excel are you using and how does the text align in the cell is it aligned to the left or the right?

Excel 2000 and it's aligned to the left.

Is there an apostrophe in front of the time? You may have to eliminate that if its there or you can try a formula =Value(A1) where A1 contains the imported data and then format as desired.

If you have one column of times, to convert from "text" to a number, i.e. a date that you can format any way you wish, try

Select Column

Data > Text to columns > Finish

If your TEXT time is in cell A1, try the formula below.

=TIMEVALUE(A1)
Change the Format as desired.

Nope no apostrophe and there is no space in front either.

Try =Timevalue(A1) and format it as necessary
