Hi, I have been sent a financial report that I need, however, the author must have a newer version of excel, and I know she is using vista. I have excel 2003 and using xp. When I open the file with an extension of .XLSX it looks like I've taken a trip to China. I need to convert this to a regular XL file. Can you help me out? ...............plus she is now on holidays. Thanking you in advance

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Microsoft Office online can provide you with a compatibility pack:

Follow MS's advice to be sure all critical updates are installed first (use their link). If you have your own system, you may want to follow ordinary procedures prior to installing new software (defragment your hard disk, set a restore point, backup your files). If you are at work depending on your adminstrative policies you may need help from your IT group.

I have downloaded all the updates that I needed. I've downloaded SP3 and the converter program, but I am still unable to open the file with the extension .XLSX the error message is an unrecognized file format. Any other ideas that I can try. Thanks
