How do I write a formula to calculate the following: start time 08h30 and end time 16h30 to give me an answer of 8 hours?

Excel Facts

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
What format is your data in? Does it look exactly as you wrote it (i.e. typed in as text) or is it just a format that makes it look that way?

So long as its a format, youy could do:

=HOUR(A1-A2)&" hours"

Assumes your finish time is in A1 and your start time is in A2.

I see, after looking at Vog's help, that I oversimplified my solution (which won't work as it will round every time down). ignore my solution.
