Hi there.

I would like to add a column of initials I am keeping track on a spreadsheet, but sometimes there are more than one set of initials. For example:

<TABLE style="WIDTH: 73pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=97><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 73pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 3547" width=97><TBODY><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt" height=20><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: black 1pt solid; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 1pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #c2d69a; WIDTH: 73pt; HEIGHT: 30.75pt; BORDER-TOP: windowtext 1pt solid; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 1pt solid" class=xl64 height=41 rowSpan=2 width=97>OFFICER</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 15.75pt" height=21></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt" height=20><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #d4d0c8; BORDER-LEFT: #d4d0c8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; HEIGHT: 15pt; BORDER-TOP: #d4d0c8; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl63 height=20>NA</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt" height=20><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #d4d0c8; BORDER-LEFT: #d4d0c8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; HEIGHT: 15pt; BORDER-TOP: #d4d0c8; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl63 height=20>CD</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt" height=20><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #d4d0c8; BORDER-LEFT: #d4d0c8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; HEIGHT: 15pt; BORDER-TOP: #d4d0c8; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl63 height=20>CD, JD</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt" height=20><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #d4d0c8; BORDER-LEFT: #d4d0c8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; HEIGHT: 15pt; BORDER-TOP: #d4d0c8; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl63 height=20>CR</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt" height=20><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #d4d0c8; BORDER-LEFT: #d4d0c8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; HEIGHT: 15pt; BORDER-TOP: #d4d0c8; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl63 height=20>NA</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt" height=20><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #d4d0c8; BORDER-LEFT: #d4d0c8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; HEIGHT: 15pt; BORDER-TOP: #d4d0c8; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl63 height=20>CD, WO</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt" height=20><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #d4d0c8; BORDER-LEFT: #d4d0c8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; HEIGHT: 15pt; BORDER-TOP: #d4d0c8; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl63 height=20>WO, CD, NA</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 30pt" height=40><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #d4d0c8; BORDER-LEFT: #d4d0c8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; HEIGHT: 30pt; BORDER-TOP: #d4d0c8; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl63 height=40>NA</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
How do I create a formula to account for initials that are together with other initials??

I have been using COUNTIF(A5:A20, "NA")*1 to keep of individual initials.

Thanks!!!!

Maybe this...

=COUNTIF(A5:A20,"*NA*")

That assumes NA will not appear in a cell more than once.
