I made a copy of my original macro enabled spreadsheet to test out a new macro not wanting to mess with the original but the moment I run the macro in the copied document it opens up the original one as well.

Any reason why this could be happening?

Thanks all

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
I'd guess that you'd accidentally run a macro that's in the old one. How are you triggering your macro?

Its the run button that I click to run the macro.

The copied sheet is titled differently and also contains the same code as the original(obviously). It is also linked to another excel sheet but Ive renamed the linked document as well.
