Copy and Paste with line return

I'm doing some data entry and copying things from Excel into a database. My problem is that when I copy a cell, it doesn't just copy the cell; it copies the cell and adds a line return so that when I paste it into the database, I have to delete the line space after the numbers. Is there any way to stop the line return being appended?
