Copy columns from unopen file

Hi,
I have a spread sheet that is very large, and I only need the first 6 columns out of it. Is there a VBA code to copy those first columns and write them to a new file? Since the original file is very large I want to avoid opening it.

I'm thinking you might be able to do this using data import. The source might need to be in xml (so a 2007/10 xlsx sheet) for this to be possible and I think you might have to creat a named range including the columns you'd like to import.

edit. I can confirm this works, although you might not need the source to be xlsx, just set it up as a new connection.
