Copy Date as a text

Anyone have an idea how to copy a date (e.g. 5/14/78) to be a text that says May 1978 and doesn't have a number component to it? Not just formatting it to read May 1978, but actually have text that says May 1978?

Have you tried the TEXT funchtion:

Excel Workbook
	A	B
1	5/18/1978	May 1978
Sheet1

Excel 2010

Cell Formulas
Range	Formula
B1	=TEXT(A1,"mmm yyyy")
