Copy/paste formulas results in values, not formulas

I got a new machine recently with Excel 2003 installed. When I enter a formula (simple or complex), then try to copy that formula to other cells, I get a pop up that says "Data on the Clipboard is not the same size and shape as the selected area. Do you want to paste the data anyway?" If I say OK, I get one cell populated (say I was trying to paste the copied formula to several cells), and the cell is only populated with a value, not a formula. If I then immediately go and try to repeat this (copy one formula, paste to several cells), it works as expected with all the cells populated with the same formula. Please help, I just want to be able to copy/paste formulas like one would expect.

BTW, I have "Calculate" set to automatic, which really isn't even relevant, but thought I'd throw it in there.
