Thanks for your help in advance. I want to automatically copy data from one worksheet to another based on criteria being met. For example: If sheet1 cell A1= chain, copy sheet1 cell Y1, Z1 to sheet2 cell A1, A2. However, if sheet1 cell A1= wire, copy sheet1 cell Y1, Z1 to sheet3 cell A1, A2.
The columns I am looking at- A, D, G..... have a range of 25 different values, eg- chain, wire, string, rope etc.
I want these variables to populate the other sheets with the corresponding data in colmns Y and Z.
I do not want blank or 'false' spaces in the sheets.
That's a start. Please let me know if you want more information.

Do you mean something like this?

In Sheet2

A1 - =IF(Sheet1!A1="chain",Sheet1!Y1,"")
A2 - =IF(Sheet1!A1="chain",Sheet1!Z1,"")

In Sheet3

A1 - =IF(Sheet1!A1="wire",Sheet1!Y1,"")
A2 - =IF(Sheet1!A1="wire",Sheet1!Z1,"")

this certainly works. However the end sheets will have blank lines on them. Example source sheet:

How can I avoid this other than by deleting the lines? My actual sheet has a drop down list in sheet 1 Column A with 25 or so different selections. This is repeated at Column D, G, J,....etc (up to AB =10 total). The media (eg chain) might be selected at any of these columns or not at all.

How can I avoid this other than by deleting the lines? My actual sheet has a drop down list in sheet 1 Column A with 25 or so different selections. This is repeated at Column D, G, J,....etc (up to AB =10 total). The media (eg chain) might be selected at any of these columns or not at all.

From what I see a macro might be a better approach. Will there be 25 separate sheets for each selection? What are they?

I've been away from the computer for a couple of days. How can I attach the real spreadsheet to this post? I have one of the sheets I need to harvest data from ready to attach. I have removed all personal information from it. I think it will all become clearer when you see it.
