I am combining a whole cell with part of a cell. My formula is:

=Concatenate(D3,(RIGHT(A3,5)))

The problem is when I copy the cell down the entire 5000 row data range, the end result stays the same. When I visit each cell manually and change the 5 to another number (say 4) it changes to the correct value. I then switch back to the 5 and it works fine.

Why is excel doing this? Is there a way around this? I haven't got the time to do into each cell and do this manually!

any ideas?

You probably have your calculations set to Manual.

Go to Tools|Options, select the Calculation tab and select Automatic in the Calculation section.

Click Ok.
