This is (slightly) different from a similar topic about a year ago I found here.

If I copy data from a single cell, say, C1 into E1 which is a cell merged with F1, all seems to work ok. But if I try to copy C1:C3 into E1:E3 in a single block copy, the data copies across into E1:E3 but F1:F3 become demerged and the data replicated there. Anything other than copying a single cells "fails" in this way.

Any way of preventing this?

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
That’s the answer I pretty much expected, and my opinion too but it’s not my spreadsheet in this case. Centre Across Selection not viable in this case though.

Confirmation appreciated though.

I don't know if VBA is a possible workaround? For the scenario you quoted, this will work as you intended:

Range("E1:E3").Value = Range("C1:C3").Value

In this particular case, I can't predict what block of cells will be copied and it adds a potential complication that is best avoided given the likely users. The best solution will be for me to find a way to get rid of the merged cells which is acceptable to the 'owner'.

Thanks again.
