when i copy contents of sheet xyz and column A it has all numbers in it, when i see properties it says text. When i copy the whole column A and make a new sheet and paste the contents in column a of new sheet and try to make custom format of all the selected cells as 0000000000, when i am doen with this the cells do not reflect the new format until i edit that field.
Any idea how i can do it without editing the field ?

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
think i can help...

copy the cells, then right click and choose paste special, then values over the cells that you have pre-custom formated.

that do it?
