What formula will return the value of the first cell above it that contains data? For example if the worksheet has:
Abby 01/02/02 Green
Blue
01/03/02 Red
01/04/02 Orange
Beth 02/04/02 Violet
Black

I would like the formula to produce:
Abby 01/02/02 Green
Abby 02/02/02 Blue
Abby 01/03/02 Red
Abby 01/04/02 Orange
Beth 02/04/02 Violet
Beth 02/04/02 Black

Excel Facts

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.
OK...formatting wasn't much help. How about if Cell Values are as follows:
A1=Abby
A2 is blank
A3 is blank
A4=Beth
A5 is blank
B1=1/02/02
B2 is blank
B3=1/03/02
B4=01/05/02
B5 is blank

I need formula to return:
A1= Abby
A2= Abby
A3= Abby
A4=Beth
A5=Beth
B1=01/02/02
B2=01/02/02
B3=01/03/02
B4=01/05/02
B5=01/05/02
