  • Today some excel files that I worked on recently refused to be opened as usual in both Excel 2013 for Windows and Excel for macOS.
  • All other relatively old files that were not touched recently are opened just fine.
  • One the top of that after downloading the same file from 2 days old backup they are opened just fine.
  • no VBA in files
  • no changed to files extensions were made

Excel file recovery also refuses to work:

or even extract data:

I prone to blame macOS Excel version for broking my files since I started working in macOS few day ago and this never happened before, but that is just a guess...

I will be grateful for any ideas how to recover files or to prevent same behavior in future?

Here is a link to the corrupted file: FEX.NET
