I thought I saw this solution out there, but I can't seem to find it. My apologies if this is a re-post.

I'd like to count cells based on the formatting. For instance, count all the cells shaded a particular color, or count the cells with red text. Is this possible?

If Conditional Formatting were applied to assign the format, I would just use the same formula that is in the conditional formatting, correct? What if the formatting to the cells was applied manually?

Thanks in advance for any ideas! JP

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

Try ExtCell combined with SumProduct. A search on this board would yield some examples.

Another option: The XLM.GET.CELL function combined with SumProduct. The XLM function is part of the latest verion of the morefunc.xll add-in.
