Hi and Thanks in advance

I have a table with 3 columns A:C
My table starts in A4 and could have many rows

I would like to have in A2 a total counting how many cells in column A are equal and different in Column B

So if:
  • A5=A6=A7= A56 but B7=B7<>B56 then 1
  • A89=A90 but B89<>89 then TOTAL = 1 (previous count) + 1 = 2

I do not want to use addtional columns

This is just a eg for this forum (maeby using sumproduct ?)

Thanks again

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
  • A5=A6=A7= A56 but B5=B6=B7<>B56 then total =1
  • A89=A90 but B89<>B90 then A2 = 2
