I am looking for a formula (countif - i guess) that will look up cells but will only count them if the text length is more than 3.

Any words equal to or less than three characters will not be included in the count

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.

Try this formula if the text is in column A:

Code:
=SUM(IF(LEN($A:$A)>3,1,0))

Close the formula with CTRL + SHIFT + Enter and not usual Enter.

Hope this helps !
