I have a spreadsheet that lists tickets in one column, the name of who submitted them in the next, and the date it was submitted in the next. On a separate sheet I am trying to total the number of times each name appears by month. So I'd like to have a column with names on the left, and then 12 columns of months in a row across the top showing totals by month. However, I can't get it to work. Please help!

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
If your sheet1 data is in Sheet1A1:C100 with names in B and dates in C.
And on Sheet2 names are in column A and Dates in row 1, try putting in B2 of the second Sheet
=SUMPRODUCT(--(Sheet1!$B$1:$B$100=$A1),--(Month(Sheet1!$C$1:$C$100)=MONTH(B$1))

and drag.
